In a clear journalistic approach, Enrique Mandujano captures life as it passes by in front of his eyes; and his Sony Alpha 700. His photos encompass the daily venture of people around the world.
Mandujano, 32, a native of Mexico and currently living in Spain, has learned photography by reading, observing and experimenting. His portrait style is characterized by finding a personal connection with his subjects in a spontaneous moment of their quotidian activities.
From indigenous people to western urbanites, Mandujano has learned to represent strong human emotions through his work as exemplified in his photographs of the elderly. Feelings such as despair, loneliness and hardship are clearly transmitted in his pieces “Doña Julia”, “El Mazahua”, and “Iniquidad”.
Mandujano’s brilliant use of natural light brings to his Black and White a strong contrast, and his self-taught technique helps him deliver sharp and detailed images.
In his piece “Orgullo” (Pride) Mandujano captured a personal friend talking about his father in a casual conversation over coffee. It seems that what Mandujano does best is his ability to seize the opportunity and make every occasion worth capturing.
